A valid passport and departure ticket dated within 30 days of arrival are required for Entry by ALL visitors including children. 

Customs 

Visitors are allowed to bring the following items free of duty:

1 qt of Alcohol OR 2 Liters of Wine

200 Cigarettes OR 100 Cigarillos OR 50 cigars OR 12.5 grams of Tobacco

50 grams of Perfume OR 0.25 Liter of Toilet Water

 Firearms, controlled Drugs and Pornography are NOT permitted on the Island.

Atmosphere / Dress

Provo is a very peaceful and laid back location.  It is simple, unpretentious and beautiful.  Dress is very casual.

Restaurants / Grocery

The island has numerous Restaurants with a wide Variety of Cuisines.  Conch is the local favorite and is raised on the island. There is a well stocked IGA Grocery. 

Recreation

While the ocean is the main source of activity there is also an 18 hole Championship Golf Course (rated one of the best in the Caribbean).

Wildlife

The island supports 175 resident and migratory spieces of birds, in addition to the abumdent Marine Life. January through May, humpback Whales migrate through the Turks Island passage on their way south to the breading grounds North of the Dominican Republic

Language / Currency 

The official language of the Island is English.  The official currency is the US Dollar.

Driving 

Turks and Caicos is a British Colony, thus Driving is on the left side.  Local Car Rental companies are plentiful, but reservations are needed.  The island is quite small and easy to navigate.

Gecko Palms is an easy 20 minute drive from the Airport - a SUV is recommended  

Government 

The Turks & Caicos Islands are a British Crown Colony - the Govenor is appointed by the Queen and presides over an executive council.  Local self-government is headed by the Premier and is carried out by elected ministers and a legislative council, which is empowered to enact local statutes.  Government Offices are located in Grand Turk where the countries capital, Cockburn Town is located.
